Foseco’s Non-Ferrous Metal Treatment products provide:

  • Improved yield
    • Reduced losses by oxidation
    • Improved separation of dross from metallic aluminum
  • Reduced defects
    • Reduced inclusions
    • Fewer leakers, impoved fluidity
  • Increased productivity
    • Increased furnace efficiency, capacity and life
    • Less rework
    • Faster machining and increased tool life through removal of hard spots
  • Improved quality
    • Improved mechanical properties (e.g., fatigue, elongation and UTS properties) due to inclusion control, and best fluxing and degassing products

Aluminum Fluxes

COVERAL fluxes are suitable for covering, cleaning and drossing applications in aluminum foundries. They reduce oxide formation and build-up on furnace walls, help remove non-metallics from the melt, reduce the aluminum content of dross and facilitate removal of dross

  • High recovery
  • Reduced dross volume and associated disposal costs
  • Reduced furnace wall oxide build-up
  • Low cost per application
  • Reduced oxide formation
  • Non-metallics removed from melt
  • Reduced melt loss
  • Clean furnace walls
  • Fast acting
  • Products for all alloys, furnaces and temperatures

Granular vs Powder

COVERAL fluxes are available in granular or conventional powder form. The premium granular COVERAL GR fluxes are preferentially used instead of compositionally similar powder fluxes because their individual components are manufactured into single granules, allowing for a more homogeneous distribution of the active ingredients during application. The improved homogeneity allows the product to be used with greater efficiency. Furthermore, the larger particles greatly minimize dust and smoke evolution.

  • Improved homogeneity and efficiency
  • Negligible smoke
  • Reduced fume
  • Odor free
  • Minimizes dust

Aluminum Foundry Degassing

Rotary Degassing Products, Graphite Shafts and Rotors

Metal Degassing Unit (MDU) shafts and rotors are designed to give optimum performance when removing hydrogen gas from molten aluminum. The patented pumping rotor design gives the most efficient bubble formation and distribution pattern to ensure that degassing cycle times are minimized and gas levels are maintained as low as possible using the minimum of purge gas. This rotor design maintains a highly consistent degassing efficiency through the life of the rotor as there are no sharp edges that wear away as with other designs.

  • Optimum bubble size and distribution
  • Turbulence free
  • Fast degassing
  • Lowest gas levels attained
  • Efficiency maintained through the life of the rotor
  • Oxidation resistant, highest quality graphite to increase life
  • Tapered thread fittings for fast and easy removal and replacement

Metal Treatments for Copper-Based Alloys

Fluxes for Copper and Copper-Based Alloys:
ALBRAL
, CUPREX, CUPRIT and ELIMINAL
Fluxes for copper-based alloys are blended powders formulated to meet a wide variety of performance and production requirements. They are used to clean and protect melts, remove undesirable metallics and non-metallics, prevent fuming, and prevent dross build up on furnace walls. Each product is specially formulated to provide specific performance and production requirements.

  • improved metal cleanliness
  • improved metal fluidity
  • improved feeding of castings
  • improved mechanical properties
  • reduced workplace fumes
  • reduced porosity
  • improved workability
